Fuel Your PhD Breakthrough: Announcing the NVIDIA International Graduate Fellowship Program 2026

For a quarter of a century, NVIDIA has been committed to more than just building the future of accelerated computing; we've been dedicated to empowering those who will architect it. Today, we continue that legacy by proudly opening applications for the 2026 NVIDIA International Graduate Fellowship Program. This is more than a grant; it's a launchpad for the world's most promising PhD students to amplify their research, connect with industry pioneers, and help solve the world's most complex computational challenges.

If your doctoral research is poised to make a significant impact in fields like artificial intelligence, computer graphics, high-performance computing, or autonomous systems, this is an opportunity you cannot afford to miss.

Beyond Funding: An Investment in Future Leaders

The financial award associated with the fellowship is designed to provide you with the freedom to focus exclusively on your groundbreaking research. However, the true value of the NVIDIA Fellowship extends far beyond the stipend. This program is a deep, immersive experience. It's a partnership. We select our fellows based on their exceptional academic achievements, the compelling nature of their research, and the strong endorsement of their professors.

For twenty-five years, this program has served as a bridge between academia's most brilliant minds and the industry's leading innovators. Past fellows have gone on to become leaders in their fields, publishing seminal papers, founding influential companies, and contributing directly to the technologies that power our world. By joining this distinguished group, you are not just receiving a fellowship; you are gaining a lifelong network of peers and mentors at the forefront of technology.

The Internship: Where Theory Meets Transformative Practice

A cornerstone of the fellowship is the mandatory in-person summer internship, which takes place in the summer before your fellowship year begins. This isn't a typical internship. It's a chance to embed yourself within one of NVIDIA's world-class research and development teams. You will collaborate side-by-side with the engineers and scientists who are developing the next generation of GPUs, software, and AI models.

Imagine having access to unparalleled computational resources to test your thesis concepts at scale. Picture yourself contributing to a real-world project that could redefine an industry. This hands-on experience is invaluable, allowing you to translate theoretical research into tangible impact. Internships are available at our key global research hubs, including offices across the United States, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Israel, and Taiwan, offering a truly international perspective.

Are You the Innovator We're Looking For?

This fellowship is designed for doctoral candidates who are already making significant strides in their research. To be eligible, you should be a passionate, driven student who meets the following criteria:

  • Academic Progress: You must have completed your first year of PhD studies at the time you apply.

  • Field of Study: Your major should be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, System Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Research Focus: You must be actively engaged in research that forms the core of your PhD thesis.

  • Enrollment Status: You need to be a full-time, active PhD student during the 2026-2027 academic year. This means your expected graduation date should be no earlier than May or June of 2027.

  • Internship Availability: You must be available and eligible to complete the full-time, in-person summer internship at an NVIDIA office prior to the fellowship year.

Crafting Your Application: A Guide to Success

Your application is our first window into your potential. We encourage you to be thorough and thoughtful. You will manage your entire application through our online submission portal.

Here’s what you’ll need to prepare:

  1. Your Research Vision (Thesis Proposal): A concise, two-page summary of your research. What problem are you solving? Why is it important? What is your unique approach? Be clear, compelling, and ambitious. (A bibliography can be included and does not count towards the two-page limit).

  2. Your Academic and Professional Journey (CV): Your curriculum vitae should detail your academic achievements, publications, conference presentations, and any relevant work experience.

  3. Letters of Recommendation: You need a minimum of two, and a maximum of three, letters of recommendation. One of these must be from your primary PhD thesis advisor. These letters should speak to your research capabilities, creativity, and potential for future impact.

  4. Internship Confirmation: You will need to confirm your availability for the in-person summer internship.

A Critical Note on Deadlines: You are in control of your application. It is your responsibility to ensure all components, including the letters of recommendation, are submitted on time.

  • Start Early: Create your profile in the submission portal now. You can add your recommenders immediately, which will trigger an automated email to them with upload instructions.

  • Communicate with Recommenders: Do not wait until the last minute. Give your professors and other recommenders ample time to write and upload a strong letter. The deadline for them is 12:00 PM (Noon) Pacific Time on September 15, 2025.

  • Final Submission: Monitor the portal to ensure your letters have been received. Once all your materials are complete, you can submit your final application. The absolute deadline is 3:00 PM Pacific Time on September 15, 2025.

The future is not just written; it's computed. If your research is part of that computation, we invite you to apply.
