🌍 Explore, Collaborate, Discover: The 2025 PAGES Inter-Africa Mobility Research Fellowship Is Now Open!

Do you dream of taking your research across borders and building lasting scientific networks across the continent? Then it’s time to pack your curiosity and prepare to move—because the 2025 PAGES Inter-Africa Mobility Research Fellowship Program is calling your name!

Past Global Changes (PAGES) is excited to announce the launch of its Inter-Africa Mobility Fellowship Program—a unique opportunity crafted especially for PhD students and postdocs working in paleoscience fields. The program provides travel and subsistence funding to help researchers gain invaluable experience in another African country, expand their professional networks, and develop collaborative research that speaks to the heart of the continent’s scientific potential.

This fellowship is more than just funding—it's about bridging minds and borders. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in a different African institution for 2 to 4 weeks.

  • Strengthen your research capacity and build cross-border collaborations.

  • Be part of a growing community dedicated to understanding past climate and environmental changes in Africa.

🧭 Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is tailor-made for early-career African researchers who:

  • Are final-year PhD students or postdocs (within 5 years of PhD completion).

  • Are affiliated with an African institution (either studying or working).

  • Are citizens of African countries, currently based in Africa.

  • Are already engaged in research aligned with PAGES' scientific scope.

  • Have secured support from a host researcher/institution in another African country.

📅 Fellowship Timeline

  • Duration: 2–4 weeks

  • Flexibility: Fellowships can be used within 12 months of the award date.

  • Deadline to apply: 15 August 2025

📝 How to Apply

Applications will be judged on merit, clarity, and alignment with PAGES' mission. Here’s what you’ll need to submit:

  1. Application Form including:

    • A clear and compelling research and travel proposal (max 1000 words)

    • Statement on how the fellowship will benefit your career and home institution (max 200 words)

    • Timeline, expected outcomes, and budget

  2. Two Letters of Recommendation:

    • One from your home supervisor

    • One from your host supervisor

  3. CV (max 2 pages)

🕒 What Happens Next?

  • Sept–Oct: Scientific Committee reviews applications

  • Oct: Applicants notified of final decision

  • Nov–Dec: Logistics and fund disbursement begin
