Teen Convulses in Horrifying Video After Cop Tasers Him for Vaping Outside
"He was just vaping," eyewitnesses said over the weekend as they watched in horror as an Atlanta police officer tasered a 17-year-old kid, knocking him to the ground and causing him to convulse. The event is currently being investigated internally.
On Thursday, scores of adolescents were happily skating and hanging out at Atlanta's Historic Fourth Ward Skate Park when a female officer saw one of the youngsters using a vape pen. According to the police, vaping is forbidden in the park, despite the fact that it is outdoors, and hence the cop claimed the right to extort the adolescent.
The short video shows the youngster, Terion Fortson, 17, rising up and speaking to the officer, demanding he "Get on the ground immediately." "Reach for the earth." Fortson was not shown in the video physically attacking the officer or demonstrating any other kind of resistance that would necessitate the subsequent use of force.
According to witnesses, the taser was drawn when Fortson failed to provide his identification quickly enough.
"I was terrified," witness Brendon Aldridge told WSB-TV. "You know, given recent occurrences with police officers and melananted people, you anticipate him to be shot, but she wasn't."
"All he was doing was vaping. She requested his identification. He maintained his composure; he did not say, 'No, I am not going to show you my ID.' He was tased by her. It was bizarre because she kept saying, 'Get down, get down,' as if he wasn't already on the ground. It was stranger when six additional police officers arrived and began dapping each other up, asking, 'What's up?' and embracing. What is this, I'm wondering? That was a bizarre situation. That was illogical."
As seen by the video, the cop tasers Fortson, although the impact is little. The youngster remained still until the police shot again. It clearly entered his flesh the second time, forcing him to fall to the ground.
He was no longer a danger after he was on the ground, but the cop re-applied the taser, forcing the adolescent to convulse violently on the ground. Because the footage is difficult to view, local news stations declined to show it.
When contacted for a response, the department said that Fortson was resisting arrest and that the taser was deployed as a result of his resistance. Fortson, however, was not physically resisting, as shown by the footage below and eyewitnesses.
"Around 4:30 p.m. on March 24, 2022, a Beltline officer noticed a guy vaping in a public park. The officer approached the individual and informed him of the legislation, as well as the fact that he was not permitted to vape in that location. The man continued to smoke while walking away. The officer approached the individual once again and asked for identification in an attempt to issue a ticket. The individual refused to cooperate and fought the officer's attempts to apprehend him violently. The man continued to fight capture, and the officer detained him with her taser. The man was put in handcuffs without incident after his tasing.
"We are aware of the event and the video depicting a part of the interaction that has been circulating on social media. We will be studying the complete footage of this occurrence in order to ascertain all pertinent details. The inquiry is ongoing at the moment."
