To many, the mention of Tasmania evokes humorous recollections of the Tasmanian devil--the voracious marsupial popularized in American cartoons. Tasmania is an island slightly larger in size than West Virginia and is found two-hundred miles off Australia's southeast coast.   When  an individual  is charged by police and  there's  no bystander video evidence,  it's  that person's word against the officer's. In nearly all cases, courts will take the officer's word over the alleged criminal and as a result, countless innocent people have done time in prison. Police also maintain control over body camera footage and as Aaron Maughan's case illustrates, if police claim the footage was lost,  it's  up to you  to seek out  it. In 2017, Maughan admitted to eluding police and was taken into police custody while being  one hundred pc  compliant. Hohenwald  captain  and Lewis County Commissioner Earl Taylor, a career officer and grandfather, was called out at a County Commission  committee meeting  by an angry parent. Shane Blackwood addressed the county commission in March of this year claiming he was there  to speak  about "Garbage." That "Garbage" involved calling out an alleged pedophile cop for attempted grooming of his daughter. In a riveting five minute speech, Mr. Blackwood said his worst fears had come true.
